Otherhood is a Fake
Surrounded by warm brothers and sisters
All alone
Led by wise and loving kind beloved teachers
Mind turbulent
Wisdom flowing through
My ears deaf
My mind turbulent
Violent
Dark
Consumed by the falsehood of self
Utterly absorbed
By all the things I need to do
All the things I want to be
All the things I am missing out on
All the things do not matter
Struggling to settle down
No end in sight
Auntie Wind blows
Against my window
And into my soul
I breathe in the wind
It washes all the toxins away
My feet firmly on the floor
Strongly and eternally connected to Mother Earth
I breathe out with Auntie
It leaves me clean
I open my eyes
Surrounded by warm brothers and sisters
I breathe with each one of them
It washes all the toxins away
My feet firmly connected to Mother Earth
Auntie Wind guiding every breath
I breathe in and out with the Sangha
Kind brothers and sisters
Beautiful, loving, kind, brothers and sisters
Together as one
I breathe in and out with the town I’m in
I breathe in and out with my kind on Earth
I breathe in and out with Mother Earth herself
I breathe in and out with every rock, piece of ice, planet, star, and being in this galaxy
I breathe in and out with every iota in this universe
And then it comes to me
There is no otherhood
Otherhood is a fake
Otherhood is a lie
Otherhood is a fabrication, a confusing illusion
Surrounded by warm brothers and sisters
Never alone
Led by wise and loving kind beloved teachers
Mind at ease
Wisdom flowing through
I’m in a spacious welcoming place
Settled down
No end in sight
This poem is a stream of consciousness, work in progress that depicts my experience at a meditation session on Sunday, October 17, 2021. When I shared this experience with the Sangha, my teacher asked me to write it down and explore it further, so here it goes :).
