How does one know you, dear friend?

Walked the same hallways at work but that’s not how I know you
Sat with the same leaders of men and companies but that’s not how I know you
Dove deep into inner work
Well may be that’s how…. No that’s not it either

Am I to confine your being to a story or a statement of fact or a work of history
Am I to relegate you to a smile or a nod or a word like poetry
How do I say how I know you without dishonoring you
